The lighting design for LORENC + YOO Office was inspired by minimalism and technological design concepts. The objective is to embellish on the architecture and also company’s collectibles. The lighting system will provide and enhance a bright, clean appearance for the space. in able to achieve these tasks, three layers of lighting technique shall be executed within each space. Ambient lighting will give the even, general overall lighting as Task lighting will specifically illuminate certain tasks as reading, writing or for art work and Decorative will provide most of the sparkle in the space.
In areas that have exposed ceilings, an indirect lighting system will be used to accentuate the ceiling work and upper walls so that the space appears brighter. In confined areas like hallways, wall mounted fixtures and recessed floor lighting will be used to graze and emphasize certain features like the barn doors that have been restored and are mounted as an offset to the design.
Within the offices and studios, all three layers are still executed but will focus more on the task lighting due to computer work or reading. Applying the two core concepts and proper layering, the lighting will create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
